RECA/ Washington Update
Senate Bill# 791 and House Bill #1490 were reintroduced in April of 2011. In May of 2011, they were moved to their judiciary committees. Then in the beginning of August, 2011, the House bill moved to the sub-committee of Immigration Policy and Education. This sub-committee is the beginning of a line of committees the House bill has to go through, and is the committee that starts the hearings on cases brought against the Federal government.
After the House bill gets through the Immigration Policy & Education committee, it has to still go through the Commerce & Energy committee, Workplace Education, and then back to its own judiciary committee.
That we know of, the Senate bill only has to go through its own judiciary committee.
The Post ’71 Uranium Workers Committee is starting a new petition drive to show the politicians that we are serious about getting the hearings scheduled for these bills, and hopefully, get them moving to do the right thing for the rest of the workers that did their part for the Cold War effort.
Please download and print out copies of the petition and help us gather signatures to send to Washington. Don’t number the pages as we will do that when we have collected all copies and concluded the petition drive.
Thank-you for your support and continued efforts to help us with this battle.

PLEASE GO TO THE COLDWARPATRIOTS.ORG TO SEE SENATOR MARK UDALL ADDRESS SEVERAL QUESTIONS IMPORTANT TO ALL URANIUM WORKERS.
According to Udall’s office, as of last week, they plan on reintroducing the RECA Amendment bills sometime in early April. We now have the new Judiciary Committee contact information posted to our web site. Please help us contact the Judiciary Committee members and ask for their support in getting these bills to their hearings. When we get the actual bill numbers, we will get them posted also.
They suggest that we contact the co-sponsors to thank them for their support last year, and encourage them to continue to support the bills this year. They think our encouragement will be helpful to our cause.
