People that worked in uranium mines before 1971 (pre ‘71) qualify for federal aid under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). As you are aware people that worked in uranium mines after 1971 (post ‘71) do not qualify for this aid under RECA though they are just as sick as pre ‘71 workers.
We have reorganized and formed a new committee to regenerate interest in RECA for post ‘71 miners, mill workers, and transporters. We are in the process of gathering data on illness and disease of post ‘71 workers.
